Check the reporting period

Find the graduating year, campus and branches covered. A report may describe an ongoing placement season or combine multiple programmes. Compare like-for-like data wherever possible.

Understand the denominator

Ask how many students graduated, how many were eligible, how many participated and how many received offers. Multiple offers to one student are different from multiple students being placed.

Look at the distribution

Read median and average compensation alongside the roles and employers. Ask what is included in the compensation figure, such as variable pay or other components. A single exceptional offer does not describe the typical outcome.

Use more than one signal

Combine placement information with curriculum, teaching quality, cost and your own interests. If a claim is unclear, ask for an official written clarification instead of filling in the gaps with assumptions.
